Africa Day Celebration

On May 25, 2023, 8 African Embassies celebrated the African Day in Hanoi, the Government Guest House in Ha Noi came alive with vibrant colors, and an atmosphere brimming with cultural pride as it played host to a magnificent reception in celebration of Africa Day. This event aimed to showcase the richness and diversity of eight African nations, highlighting their unique cultures, traditions, and contributions to the world.

Uniting in Diversity: The African continent is home to a kaleidoscope of cultures, languages, and traditions. The reception beautifully captured this diversity, with each participating country infusing the event with its distinct flair. From the moment guests arrived, they were greeted by a stunning display of traditional attire, music, and dance, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening.

Gastronomic Delights: A highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the culinary journey through Africa’s flavors. Guests were treated to a mouthwatering array of traditional dishes from each of the participating nations. The aroma of Moroccan tagines, the fiery spices of Ethiopian injera, the savory delights of Ghanaian jollof rice — every bite was a tantalizing adventure, leaving taste buds craving for more.
Art, Craft, and Fashion: Artisans and craftsmen from the eight African nations proudly displayed their masterpieces at the event, offering a glimpse into the creativity and craftsmanship that make Africa so unique. Additionally, a fashion show featuring traditional and contemporary African designs took center stage, showcasing the fusion of heritage and modernity in African fashion.

A Vibrant Future: The Africa Day celebration reception at the Government Guest House served as a powerful reminder of Africa’s immense cultural wealth. It celebrated the past, embraced the present, and looked towards a future brimming with opportunities for growth, cooperation, and mutual understanding. By showcasing the diversity and vibrancy of eight African nations, the event left a lasting impression on all who attended, promoting a renewed appreciation for Africa’s invaluable contributions to the global community.

Activities in Vietnam Vice President Prof. Yemi Osibanjo Visit to Vietnam

Vice President of Vietnam, Mrs. Vo Thi Anh Xuan presides over the welcoming ceremony for the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

The ceremony featured Children in Hanoi who also came out and presented flowers to welcome Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Yemi Osinbajo.

Nigeria and Vietnam are good trading partners, with over $500 million in trade between our countries as of 2019. However, as with anything, our relationship can be improved upon.

This visit serves to bolster our relationship, thereby creating more opportunities to do business together, and share our cultures which was one amongst many others discussed during my meeting with the Vice President of The Socialist Republic of Vietnam; HE Vo Thi Anh Xuan. In furthering our relationship between the two countries we both witnessed Signing of Memorandum of Understanding for defense between Nigeria and Vietnam.
